Using Fair Housing to Assist Clients in Navigating a Successful Rental Experience

The Housing Equality Center of PA will deliver a webinar training which will teach housing locators, social workers, case managers and advocates how to use state and federal fair housing laws when appropriate to assist their clients in navigating a successful rental experience. An overview of PA Landlord-Tenant Law will be provided along with an overview of Fair Housing law. Specific fair housing strategies will be presented for various landlord tenant disputes with the goal of maximizing chances for a successful rental experience and avoiding eviction.  Time for questions and answers is included.

Your Way Home Domestic Violence Training Series - Session 1: Human Trafficking 101 & Trauma-Informed Care

This session features a presentation by staff at The Salvation Army’s A New Day to Stop Trafficking program. Service providers who work with the most vulnerable members of our communities may be supporting survivors of trafficking without even knowing it. In this training, participants will learn to define human trafficking, understand the laws protecting victims, and identify red flags and vulnerable populations. Building on their foundational understanding of trauma-informed care, participants will develop skills for engagement with survivors and learn how to connect them to relevant resources.

This session will be presented in partnership with Laurel House and the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Participants will focus on best practices for working with survivors of domestic violence, including confidentiality requirements, safe communication strategies, and case management considerations. Participants will learn some basic safety planning techniques and gain an understanding of the specialized confidentiality requirements for the Violence Against Women Act and HMIS.
