Last year, Your Way Home launched a year of self-exploration to understand the systemic barriers to equitable access to homeless services, outcomes and leadership opportunities in Montgomery County. That work recently culminated in the release of the Racial Equity and Homelessness in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania: Initial Findings Report. The report identified disparities based on race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation that permeate multiple systems - housing, human services, criminal justice, health, behavioral health, child welfare, education, and others - and provided recommendations for future action.
The 2019 Your Way Home Annual Summit continues this essential and pioneering work by bringing together local, state and national thought leaders and cross-sector partners to share and co-create more equitable solutions in policy and practice that will reduce inequities and dismantle systemic barriers to housing opportunities.
The conversation will be led by Keynote Speaker Amanda Misiko Andere, the CEO of Funders Together To End Homelessness. Amanda will provide a national perspective on how philanthropy and its partners in the public and social sectors are impacting and influencing the design of more equitable systems, organizations and communities around the country.
Regional and local leaders will then host a series of breakout sessions for attendees that spotlight emerging trends and promising practices at the intersection of equity and:
Affordable Housing Practices
Housing for Vulnerable Populations
Housing, Law, and Criminal Justice
Your Way Home’s first ever Summit lunch speaker (TBA) and a moderated panel will dive deep into equitable solutions in policy and practice from leaders of other systems, including criminal justice, economic development and education, who have led successful social change efforts. These speakers will share their lessons learned and contribute valuable new insights to help Your Way Home and its partners achieve our ultimate goal of safe, affordable and just housing opportunities for all.
